Abstract

Universities need some consideration in determining the student’s fields of interest. The field of
interest aims to enrich knowledge and skills that chosen by students. In order to develop the
knowledge and skills of the students, universities need to create an effective system for the
determination of student interest. The purpose of this study is to develope the decision support system
which is able to determine students of interest more optimally using Weighted Product method. Webbased
system
is

choosen as the application platform. The results showed that the decision support
system is able to accelerate the process of determination and classification of the fields of student
interest in accordance with the conditions determined by the universities.
