PENINGKATAN DAYA SAING PENGRAJIN TENUN SONGKET DI DESA SUMBER HARAPAN, SAMBAS

Abstract

Songket woven cloth of Sambas is one of the leading cultural products in Sambas Regency. Characteristic of this cloth lies in the motif made of yellow gold or silver yarn. Sambas people use songket woven cloth in various activities to show regional identity. Sambas songket weaving craftsmen are mostly located in Sumber Harapan Village so this village is known as a cultural tourism village. The problems faced by songket weaving craftsmen among others in the process of production and packaging. The production process of Sambas songket woven fabrics is still produced using traditional looms and packaging used only using plain transparent plastic. Efforts that can be done is to develop the production process and increase the sale value of songket woven fabric that has been produced. The production process is done by making the yarn rolling machine. The test results show that the yarn rolling machine can work well for rolling the yarn. The development of packaging of weaving products is done by packaging design training and packaging box. The evaluation results of the packaging design training indicate that there is an enhancement of the partner's ability after the training is completed. The best packaging design result is chosen to be used as a box cover for Songket woven cloth of Sambas.
