GESTURE GURU SLB SEBAGAI KOMUNIKASI DALAM PEMBELAJARAN KONSEP MATEMATIKA PADA ABK

This research is focused on teacher’s gestures that are unconsciously done in the learning process on children with special needs especially deaf students. So the purpose of this study is to determine the types of gestures that used in Sekolah Dasar Luar Biasa (SDLB) Lamongan teachers in explaining the concept of mathematics and how the influence of teacher gesture SDLB Lamongan in the process of learning mathematics. This research used qualitative approach with descriptive-explorative research type. Research data collection is conducted by audiovisual recording of all teacher’s activities during the teaching and learning process. Analysis of research data is done by using data triangulation. The results showed teachers using pointing (deictic), representational and writing gesture. Gesture is done by teacher as a communication tool to children with special needs, besides gesture also used as tool or strategy in learning process of mathematics. In this study found that with the use of gesture with talk done by the teacher can be influential in the process (1) the delivery of mathematics knowledge of teachers to children with special needs and also (2) improve the spirit of students in the learning process.
