Abstract
Parents role is very important in caring children with cancer. During the treatment, parents will be faced with various problems ranging from strain role, family economic burden and parents health status, especially the sleep and rest problem fulfillment. To ensure the sustainability of treatment good parents conditions is needed while accompanying children during the treatment in hospitals. Sahabat Anak Kanker (SAK) volunteer is a community that supports the struggle of children against cancer. With the provision of interaction with parents, this community has opportunity to provide psychological support for parents. The purpose of this activity is to conduct progressive relaxation therapy training to volunteers as one way to overcome sleep disorders in parents with cancer children. After the training session, volunteers intervened with 30 target parents with cancer children. The results of training found that all volunteers (30 volunteers) were able to perform Progressive Muscle Relaxation therapy as much as 100% (30 people). At the ending program of the training results showed that most volunteers 90% (27 people) were able to apply progressive muscle relaxation therapy for parents. In the future it is necessary to monitor the continuity of the program from volunteers to parents conducted by the SAK community
