STRATEGI PEMBELAJARAN ELABORASI, KOGNITIF DAN PEMAHAMAN MATA KULIAH SEJARAH
Abstract
The research in this paper is motivated by the low learning outcomes of history students who program the American History course at Tadulako University, Palu. This condition occurs because (1) The level of understanding and application of historical concepts is still low, (2) Many students who have not understood the concepts, facts, principles and procedures that exist in the course of American History, 3) give priority to memorization in the learning process, without understanding the content of history books, 4) Many History students who do not know the basic concepts in history, furthermore the students do not know how the application in completing concepts and facts in the course of American history. The other factors that are suspected to be the background in the implementation of teaching and learning process is the teaching strategy that is applied and applied by the lecturers in the history study process which is considered monotonous and boring by the students so that the purpose of this learning is not achieved . Furthermore, in this research, the teaching strategy is done by applying elaboration and textbook study in each experimental class. Pedagogy in this research is a suggestion for lecturers of history subject, in order to apply the elaboration style and simultaneously can apply textual teaching in turn, so that it can bridge the learning style of each cognitive students in absorbing the whole learning.
