Abstract
In the village head election, there is always competition between candidates to
influence each other in order to gain majority support from the villagers. However,
in the process of seizing influence is done in ways that violate the values of
democracy, such as money politics, the dissemination of rumors or negative
political issues, immoral political intrigues, consequently can lead to horizontal
conflict between groups of citizens village. Such a mechanism of village head
election can be an obstacle in the development of village democracy. Therefore, the
purpose of this study was to look at the money politics factor and its relation to
horizontal conflict in village head election. While the object of research in 5 (five)
villages of Magetan Regency selected by purposive sampling, with data analysis
done through mode analysis.
