Abstract
One of the empowerment activities is by waste management. this garbage problem has occurred also in the city of Makassar, which is the accumulation of garbage everywhere. Efforts made to handle waste, one of them with activities that use the concept of waste management. the activity is one of them is done in the garbage, that is the process of waste management by recycling, that is sorting out the garbage, weighing, and changing the garbage into high value selling craft. This research discusses about community empowerment done through plastic waste recycling activity at garbage bank Mutiara on Jl. Dg.Tantu 1 Urban Village Rappokalling Tallo City Makassar. This research uses qualitative method that is research procedure which produce descriptive data in the form of writing and oral from people or observed behavior. Techniques of collecting data in the form of observation, interview and documentation. Interactive data analysis techniques according to Miles and Huberman consisting of data collection phase, data reduction phase, data display stage and conclusion phase. The results show that this activity has succeeded in empowering local people to convert waste into valuable handicraft goods, the success of this activity affect the environment around Jl. Dg.Tantu 1 and also affect the economic aspects of citizens who join in the activities in the bank waste Mutiara
